The Amfikaia farm is a warm hospitable place, as well as being a living, breathing farm, with its daily programme and maintenance tasks. If you so wish, you will have an unforgettable taste of farm life by participating, at will, in it's daily activities.
We dreamt of a place…
So quiet, we could hear the earth’s voice again.
So beautiful, it would cleanse our sight.
So pure, we would breathe again.
So fragrant, we would re-discover the essence of scents.
So fertile, we would savour its goods without waste.
So spacious, we could revive trees and rear horses.
So welcoming, we would have to share it with you.
We sowed our dreams…
On the slopes of Mount Parnassos.
We watered them with determination, effort and patience.
Over time an enchanting microcosm blossomed.
We revived the region’s most ancient name, and thus christened it Amfikaia.
The Amfikaia farm is located at the foot of Mount Parnassos, between the villages of Amfikleia and Tithorea.
If you come by car from Athens, take the Kastro exit on the 110th kilometre of the National Highway in the direction of Orhomenos. After Orhomenos you will find the intersection with the old national highway – follow this route in the direction of Kato Tithorea – Amfikleia – Lamia. About 5km after Kato Tithorea, on the 156th km (there are small signs marking each kilometre), you will come across the first wooden signpost for Amfikaia farm. Turning left will bring you to the entrance of the farm. Click here for a map of the journey Athens-Amfikleia.
From Thessaloniki, follow the Larissa-Lamia route and via Bralou you will reach Amfikleia village. Head towards Tithorea and after about 7km turn right following the signposts.
To travel by train, choose one of the Athens-Thessaloniki routes (or vice versa) from Larissis station in Athens or from the main railway station in Thessaloniki and disembark at Tithorea. Contact with the farm to arrange your transfer to the farm.
Two hundred hectares of land define this terrestrial paradise. A paradise so big it is worth exploring yet is also small enough for you to sense nature’s pulse in every corner. The home of bountiful almond and pear trees, proud wild-trees and abundant bushes, embellished by beautifully tended gardens. Pergolas provide the shade, while intoxifying scents of herbs infuse the air.
And Mount Parnassos in the distance, sometimes dresses in white, sometimes in green, marks the passage of time and changing of the seasons. "Here, we respect the land. Its cultivation is strongly influenced by tradition, while by producing only what the land offers we preserve flavours that have nearly been forgotten.
Here, we protect life. We rear proud Thessalian horses and Skyrian foals on the verge of disappearance and provide for pets who enjoy our care without restraints.
Here, we offer a hearty welcoming to all those who wish to escape the city and remember the mystical secrets of nature."
Amfikaia, with its prototype agro tourism activities, is no ordinary hotel, but a warm embrace full of experiences. A tiny paradise on the slopes of Mount Parnassos.
Sixteen traditional houses, most of them stone-built, are an ideal refuge prepared for you. They are independent without being too remote, offering peace and quiet as well as the feeling of staying in a friendly neighbourhood. Their beauty complements the landscape.
The bright interiors, cool in summer and pervaded by the cosy warmth of the fireplace and central heating in the winter, have been designed with attention to detail. Discreetly decorated with taste and finesse, and equipped according to the latest standards that provide you with all mod cons, they offer you everything you need. Stonewalls assure your seclusion, while the large windows bring you a step closer to your surroundings.
The farm gardens, sheltered kiosks and communal spaces around them allow you to move about freely, participate in the seasonal agricultural activities and meet your neighbours if you so desire.
We welcome you to Amfikaia, confident you will feel «right at….farm» here!
* Consciously the houses there are no TVs.
The famous Thessalian horses have galloped regally through time. Beautiful and imposing they stimulated man’s imagination and gave birth to the Centaur myth. They have patiently bonded with farmers and loyally served them. As quick as lightning, they have known battles, survived wars and left their mark on history in the form of legendary horse Bucephalus. Unvanquished they survived for centuries, only to be finally beaten and replaced by machines, surrendering to the brutality of those who led them to slaughter and thus today, they face the danger of extinction.
In our days the Amfikaia farm is a veritable ark for Greek horse breeds. Since its foundation it has participated in various preservation efforts. It is with care and love that we have given refuge to some Thessalian mares, one of the breed’s few thoroughbreds, as well as one of the last remaining stallions. Together with the beautiful small-framed Skyrian, the Thessalian horses make up the farm’s “cavalry” that is “fighting” for its survival.
* There is no possibility of riding.
The Amfikaia farm is a warm hospitable place, as well as being a living, breathing farm, with its daily programme and maintenance tasks. If you so wish – and we believe you will – you will have an unforgettable taste of farm life by participating, at will, in it's daily activities. Depending on the season you can get involved in gardening, planting, weeding or even fruit and aromatic plant picking.
The farm is your playground. You also have the opportunity to take full advantage of your time. You can relish every minute of your stay, hike along the slopes of Mount Parnassos, or even mountain bike or playing football on the pitch with natural grass.
Finally, if you enjoy swimming, you have come to the right place. A dip in the large pond with its crystal clear crystalline water that comes straight from Mount Parnassos, is constantly replenished and promises to be a unique, refreshing experience.
