Nissan - Environmental Activities
Nissan was selected from among more than 6,000 global corporations for inclusion on the Climate A List in the Global Climate Change Report 2015 issued by CDP, becoming the only Japanese automotive company chosen by them. It also scored a perfect 100 in the organization’s Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI).
Nissan received its perfect score for working toward its vision of reducing “well-to-wheel” CO2 emissions from new vehicles by 90% by the year 2050 (compared with levels from 2000) and for its transparent disclosure of environmental information. Nissan was named to the Climate A List due to its championing of the Nissan LEAF and other zero-emission vehicles and its implementation of such innovative initiatives as LEAF to Home by which Nissan LEAF owners can use electric power from their vehicles to help cut energy use at home during peak hours. Nissan’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in the manufacturing process were also noted.
As a global automaker, Nissan takes active steps to identify the direct and indirect impacts of its business on the environment to help minimize them. Their goal is to reduce the environmental impact caused by our operations and Nissan vehicles throughout their lifecycle to a level that can be absorbed naturally by the Earth by promoting effective use and recycling of energy and resources.
Nissan NAVARA
Nissan Navara sets a new benchmark in the one-tonne pick-up sector. LCV media clearly agreed and honoured the Navara with the 2016 International Pickup Award (IPUA). Tough and smart, it combines the best of Nissan's leadership in the crossover segment – with cars such as the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail – with more than 80 years and 12 model generations of experience in designing and manufacturing robust and practical pickups.
Available in Double Cab and King Cab body styles, the Navara is built around a robust “ladder” frame chassis. Enhancements over its predecessor model include five-link coil-spring rear suspension which provides enhanced dynamic performance and comfort over all terrains. Standard on Double Cab versions, it’s a first in the segment.
The Navara features high levels of refinement, style, comfort and quality. It was developed to extend these characteristics – so closely associated with Nissan’s award-winning Juke, Qashqai and X-Trail crossovers – into the LCV segment for the first time. Pioneering technologies available on the Navara include Nissan’s Intelligent Around View Monitor camera system and Intelligent Emergency Braking.
The Navara's new 2.3-litre dCi engine is up to 24 per cent more efficient than the unit it replaces and is the cleanest and most economical in its sector. Available with two power output options, 160PS and 190PS, the range-topping version introduces twin turbocharging technology, which is the first time for Nissan in this segment and delivers exceptionally low running costs coupled with substantially reduced CO2 emissions. Great engines need great transmissions, and once again the Navara excels. The latest generation is availabale with the choice of two or four-wheel drive and the option of a standard six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
As customers have come to expect, the Navara is as capable off-road as it is on-road. The four-wheel drive system builds on the strengths of the design fitted to the previous generation model, and delivers surefooted traction over rough terrain.
Nissan’s confidence in the quality of its LCVs is underlined by its market-leading warranty – a five-year 160,000 km pan-European, manufacturer-provided policy that’s fully transferrable to second and subsequent owners.
